Having graduated with a BA in 2009, I spent the next five years in a variety of roles working with children from ages 1 to 18. In 2014, I returned to school and earned a Master of Social Work degree from Kennesaw State University. Currently, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have experience working within inpatient and outpatient settings, both with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. I strive to partner with clients and their families to identify reasons for becoming stagnant, to gain motivation towards change, and courage to maintain progress. I work through a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy skill-building with an emphasis on utilizing mindfulness-based techniques and Motivational Interviewing. Dialectical Behavior Therapy has been proven to be effective in substance abuse treatment and co-occurring disorders, targeting emotion dysregulation leading to impulsivity, exploring coping strategies to manage crisis situations, and navigating conflictual interpersonal relationships.

Upon request, I utilize an effective neuro-based technique called Brainspotting in my therapy sessions which has been shown to be highly effective. With Brainspotting, clients are able to tap into inner parts of their midbrain where we can often get stuck. Through a non-judgmental and acceptance approach, we gently allow deep healing to begin. (Please refer to the Brainspotting section under "Services" to learn more.)

My friends and family would describe me as passionate and kind with a genuine love for supporting others. While I take the work I do with my clients seriously, I also believe in the power of humor and so these two are often intertwined in my sessions. Although the work my clients do in our sessions is difficult, the power lies in knowing healing is possible! Humor can be a powerful tool in the healing process.
