The most essential part of any relationship with your therapist is what's called attunement----the process of being aware of and responsive to your emotional state and needs in a space of unconditional, positive regard. I believe --- with no conditions --- that every human being has the capacity to tap into their most whole self and heal. Helping you thrive as you heal at the core through the use of cutting-edge neuroscience techniques is where I find my greatest joy in my work!

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have experience working within inpatient and outpatient settings with adolescents as well as with adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. This experience led me to begin Baobab Counseling Center in order to work more deeply with individuals and their families towards healing and wholeness. I strive to create a safe and compassionate space in order to allow individuals and families identify reasons for becoming stagnant, to gain motivation towards change, and courage to maintain progress.
I have found the combination of providing education on what's happening in your brain and body through Polyvagal Theory along with incorporating Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Brainspotting techniques is effective and empowering. With Brainspotting, clients are able to tap into inner parts of their midbrain where we can often get stuck. Through a non-judgmental and acceptance approach, we gently allow deep healing to begin. I will also utilize a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy skill-building with an emphasis on utilizing mindfulness-based techniques and Motivational Interviewing when necessary. Dialectical Behavior Therapy has been proven to be effective in substance abuse treatment and co-occurring disorders, targeting emotion dysregulation leading to impulsivity, exploring coping strategies to manage crisis situations, and navigating conflictual interpersonal relationships.

My friends and family would describe me as passionate and kind with a genuine love for supporting others. While I take the work I do with my clients seriously, I also believe in the power of humor and so these two are often intertwined in my sessions. Although the work my clients do in our sessions is difficult, the power lies in knowing healing is possible and humor can be a powerful tool in the healing process.
